Navtor names managing director

C-MAP founder Tor A. Svanes to lead Norwegian marine software development firm.
E-navigation company Navtor has appointed Tor A. Svanes as its managing director. Navtor, headquartered in Stavanger - 302.49km (188mi) west of Oslo - develops digital navigational services.
Svanes, who is founder of C-MAP Norway (now Jeppesen, part of Boeing), has experience in developing the ECDIS and electronic chart concept. He replaces Hilton Cowie, who will take the position of business development manager.
Navtor has also announced the launch of an ENC service in the first quarter of 2012. The system aims to simplify ordering, licensing, updating and administration of the ENC chart portfolio.
