Vicem appoints new US sales head

Dave Mallach replaces Dirk Boehmer as director of sales.
Vicem Yachts has named Dave Mallach as its new head of sales in the US. Mallach, who is now Vicem Yachts USA director of sales, replaces Dirk Boehmer. Vicem says that all other staffing at its US office in Ft Lauderdale will remain the same. Mallach has worked in the marine industry since 1999, and according to a release, has sold more than US$30m of Vicem boats in the last eight years. "Dave has demonstrated a unique ability to communicate the unique qualities of Vicem's fine yachts to the American yachting public,” says Sebahattin Hafizoglu, Vicem’s founder and president, in the statement.

Mallach will work out of offices in New York City and Newport, Rhode Island.

Before working in the marine industry, Mallach was New York City’s Director of Drug Treatment Services in the jail system on Riker’s Island. He and his wife, Pat, have also been involved in building a school for 500 children in the village of Bodarie, Haiti.

Hafizoglu said he wanted to thank Boehmer for “his strategic support, great competency and complete passion” during his time at Vicem. He was hired as the US division’s president in November 2009.
