Tim Delaney is the marketing maestro behind iconic advertising campaigns for highprofile brands including Harrods, the BBC, Adidas and Patek Philippe. Delaney's career in advertising started in the mailroom, where he worked his way up the advertising ladder to become a copywriter at top advertising agencies Y&R and BMP. Delaney then moved on to become Creative Director and then Managing Director of BBDO at just 31.
Delaney founded Leagas Delaney in 1980 where he remains Group Chairman and Executive Creative Director. Tim has been awarded the British Television Awards' 'Lifetime Achievement Award' for his contribution to advertising.
Leagas Delaney worked exclusively with Master Yachts for their advertising campaign for superyacht Solandge, launched at this year's Monaco Yacht Show. Tim is the keynote speaker in Tuesday 18 November's session: 'Thinking that Transforms, Change that Inspires', where the discussion will range from lessons learnt throughout his decades in the advertising industry to his recent entry into the ultra- exclusive superyacht market.
What are some of your career highlights to date?
T. Delaney: Starting my own agency 34 years ago. And working on the Patek Philippe Generations campaign for 18 years.
What is your involvement with the superyacht industry?
T. Delaney: We are a communications company that is involved in company and brand strategy via analysis and research, through to execution in all channels. We were asked to help with the positioning of MY Solandge [by Master Yachts].
Why do you think events like the Global Superyacht Forum are important?
T. Delaney: Any forum, which allows an industry to discuss issues and best practice, is a good thing.
What are some interesting and exciting changes you are seeing in your field at the moment?
T. Delaney: All roads lead to the disruption caused by the digitalisation of all businesses and the knock on effect it is having on communication for brands and the way that people consume information. It is exciting because no one knows how it will all pan out.
