Rens-Jan van Vliet returns to strengthen METSTRADE Team

The METSTRADE show, the world’s leading B2B event in its category, has appointed Rens-Jan van Vliet as its new maritime product manager. Having previously been part of the METSTRADE team as sales manager, Van Vliet will mainly focus on the exhibition itself as well as on the further development of the Construction Material Pavilion (CMP). Sarah Westdijk, product manager in the maritime domain since 2005, will henceforth focus on the Superyacht & Marina aspect of the Maritime domain (METSTRADE) at RAI Amsterdam. Irene Dros manager of the Maritime domain: ”We are very pleased with welcoming Rens back to the team! He shares our enthusiasm for the show and the industry, which are key basic factors for success and quality”.

The ongoing growth and development of the METSTRADE show and platform, including the pavilions, side events, conferences and various communities, has made it necessary to enlarge the team. The appointment of Rens-Jan van Vliet will allow Sarah Westdijk to further focus on developing the successful Marina & Yard Pavilion (MYP) and SuperYacht Pavilion (SYP). Sarah will also be managing the ICOMIA World Marinas Conference, which will take place during the METSTRADE show 2016 in RAI Amsterdam.

After the successful conclusion of the METSTRADE show in 2014, Van Vliet left his position as sales manager to take up a new challenge as product manager at the RAI’s Intertraffic domain. In his new role as product manager of METSTRADE, he will bring together the function and the industry.

I am very happy to have the opportunity to get back into the maritime industry,” says Van Vliet, who started his new job on 1 October 2015. “Working within the METSTRADE team has always been a pleasure and this new role will give me the chance to help develop the exhibition further.

Irene Dros, maritime domain manager at RAI Amsterdam, is equally pleased with this addition to the team. “His experience will add lots of value to the show while giving us the time to ensure the that all the exhibitors and partners of the METSTRADE show receive the attention they deserve, just as the pavilions and other aspects of the show.”
