Perkins marine is set to launch the next generation propulsion range designed for commercial vessels requiring robust and dependable performance – while also being suited for the leisure cruiser boating enthusiasts who prioritise comfort, durability and reliability. 

The official launch will take place on November 19, 3pm on stand 03.303 at Metstrade 2025 where the media is invited to join the new product development team and the technical sales and support team for the unveiling. Developed at Perkins marine headquarters in Wimborne, UK, a site with a proud heritage in marine engine manufacturing dating back to the 1960s, the new propulsion platform reflects decades of engineering excellence. 

Three engines. One core platform.  

The Perkins® M175C, M200C and M245C are 6-cylinder propulsion engines that offer customers’ 173 hp (129 bkW), 200 hp (149 bkW) and 249 hp (186 bkW) power ratings at 2400 rpm. “We understand that it’s rare to find two boats that are identical and with corresponding requirements. One objective was to design and build an engine that can be configured as a simple streamlined engine or scaled up to a fully equipped MCS certified build,” says Dave Wood, senior product service engineer.

Dave goes on to explain that options and repower are part of the nature of their business and how Perkins has taken into consideration the future needs whilst keeping elements of familiarity in place for existing users of Perkins. He highlights that giving customers the ability to fully configure their engine is key to the success of this range.

Designed for new builds and repower, the new propulsion range provides versatility with features that give flexibility for specific operational needs. Customers can choose between heat exchanger cooled, keel cooled combined circuit and separate circuit options providing compatibility across a wide range of vessel types and operating environments. 

 Options include:
•	Basic sensors or advanced alarm shutdown controller system
•	Bilge pump
•	Mechanical throttle converter
•	Flexible mounts
•	Selection of gearboxes
•	Duplex or simplex filter options
•	Marine society builds and certifications
•	Single or double skin fuel lines

Part of the reason behind the configuration flexibility is to be competitive in the industry and enable a price point that suit boat owners across different budgets. 

The M175C, 200C and M245C meet modern emissions standards, offering customers a future-proof solution that supports long-term investment and compliance with evolving environmental regulations. The engines are emission compliant to RCD 2, EPA Tier 3, IMO2, and EU V (M175C) and customers can expect the following benefits:

The Perkins marine propulsion range introduces three new models - M175C, M200C, and M245C - delivering power up to 129 to 186 kW (173 to 249 HP) at 2400 rpm. These 6-cylinder, 7.1L engines feature turbocharged aftercooling and advanced common rail fuel systems for high performance and efficiency, with production commencing in 2026.
