This year’s IBI-Metstrade Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement, held in association with Raymarine, is now open for nominations. Why enter?  Well, here’s one great reason. It will culminate in a spectacular awards dinner where many of the international marine industry’s leading lights will gather on 19 November 2019 in the historic and spectacular setting of Amsterdam’s Het Scheepvaartmuseum – the National Maritime Museum. If you’ve yet to attend any of the previous four events, then you have missed a real highlight. If you have been there, then you’ll know what I mean. Beyond the celebrations though, I come back to the question – why enter?

And the winner is...

More than ever, due to increased publicity, social media exposure, and powerful TV documentaries, the public at large have become acutely aware of how important ocean sustainability is for the future health of our planet. This year at the I-nnovationLab stage during METSTRADE an expert panel discussion explored how marinas, yacht clubs, sailing organisations and some creative individual projects are contributing to environmental sustainability and ocean conservation, for the benefit of the Leisure Marine Industry.

Andrea Frabetti is a man who is most definitely in that category. He also happens to have a strong historical connection with METSTRADE, having been a Jury Member for the prestigious METS DAME Awards for 15 continuous years, and he is driven by a passion to make leisure yachting ever more environmentally friendly!  Currently Andrea is CEO for the Italian based marine propulsion and energy specialist Diesel Center, an innovative enterprise that was founded by its President Michele Maggi. The company’s mission is to offer complete propulsion, electronic power and automation systems with a clear emphasis on reducing harmful effects on the environment, but without compromising performance expectations.
