Seven parts, one separator

When it comes to purchasing exhaust-related systems made of glass-fibre reinforced plastic, MarQuip’s go-to suppliers are the Dutch company Versteden. Renowned for their specialised work within the superyacht sector, our partners in quality are currently manufacturing three DN800 water-lift separators for a vessel over 80 metres long. Each is designed to separate the water-cooled, purified engine exhaust gases from the seawater, which is then returned to the ocean.
As well as being smart and sustainable, this solution also presents a challenge as the large components must be transported through the narrow passages of the engine room. To make this possible, Versteden is producing the separators in seven parts that will be bonded together once in the engine room. This process requires precision work and a high level of assembly expertise – and is exactly the kind of bespoke project that MarQuip’s engineers relish too.
