ANKERPLEX has been honored with the Special Commendation for Best Innovation Project at the tenth edition of the Navalia 2026 International Exhibition. Granted by the jury within the Innovation Zone—an initiative promoted by the Vigo Free Trade Zone Consortium and managed by the Spanish Association of Naval and Ocean Engineers (AINE)—this recognition highlights the value of ANKERPLEX's innovative anchor design in an edition marked by record growth in technological projects and a strong commitment to the blue economy.

The decision was officially announced by Beatriz Spuch, Dean in Galicia of the Official Association of Naval and Ocean Engineers (COIN), positioning ANKERPLEX among the most outstanding technological development initiatives in the naval and maritime sector. The official presentation of the award will take place next July during AINE's annual gala.

A Technical Breakthrough Driven by Simplicity and High Efficiency

ANKERPLEX's proposal centers on an anchoring solution that breaks away from traditional systems. Its anchor is manufactured using three standard flat sheet metal parts, enabling rapid, secure, and precise assembly.

One of its key engineering achievements lies in the complete elimination of moving parts, effectively removing critical points vulnerable to jamming, mechanical wear, or premature degradation. This optimized architecture directly translates into superior operational performance:
• Greater penetration: An engineered geometry designed for swift digging into the seabed.
• Maximum holding power: Outstanding retention capacity under high loads and demanding conditions.
• Automatic resetting: Dynamic and efficient realignment during changes in load direction or trajectory shifts.

Jury Criteria and Impact on the Blue Economy

In granting this Special Commendation, the jury rigorously evaluated the project's technological innovation, design originality, and direct contribution to naval and ocean engineering. Furthermore, they underscored its contribution to sustainability and the blue economy, driven by an efficient manufacturing process that optimizes material usage while delivering exceptional operational reliability.

This milestone is particularly significant given the context of Navalia 2026, where the Innovation Zone doubled its footprint to 400 square meters to showcase over 20 cutting-edge projects spanning AI, digitalization, autonomous vessels, and alternative fuels. In this highly competitive showcase, ANKERPLEX consolidates its position as a rising benchmark in marine equipment and technology.

In 2023, Ankerplex introduced to the market an anchor composed of three interlocking pieces that form a secure unit once assembled, ideal as a kedge anchor or spare.
