Problems solved

The limited height of the engine room posed a significant obstacle to achieving proper cooling. To overcome this, the MarQuip team developed a system in which the cooling section was integrated into the silencer. Passive soot filter systems set new standard

And there are many more such projects on the horizon due to the growing prominence of hybrid solutions. More clients are recognising the benefits of relatively small (<130 bkW), high-powered and warm generators. Passive fully customised soot filters systems are becoming the new norm in aftertreatment systems, complete with noise-reduction capabilities. Exhaust temperatures of over 320°C and diesel fuel with < 15ppm sulphur are mandatory for these kinds of systems to work well.

Seven parts, one separator

As well as being smart and sustainable, this solution also presents a challenge as the large components must be transported through the narrow passages of the engine room. To make this possible, Versteden is producing the separators in seven parts that will be bonded together once in the engine room. This process requires precision work and a high level of assembly expertise – and is exactly the kind of bespoke project that MarQuip’s engineers relish too.

Noise reduction is, of course, always a major consideration in our design – if you have maximum noise level requirements, you’ve come to the right place!
