The manufacturer is developing its international network ahead of the launch

Polish equipment producer Yacht Concept is preparing to launch BlackBox, an advanced recording device that logs key yacht operation data. The company is also developing its international network, working with business partners in the US, Spain, Croatia and the Seychelles, among others.

Yacht Concept sales director Katarzyna Karasińska told IBI the business started its activities by supplying products to a local catamaran builder which operates one of its shipyards in the same northern region of Poland.

“Our cutting-edge products are currently available for direct sales and they have been used in many refit projects across the world. Right now, we are in talks with numerous new partners to commercialise our portfolio in various foreign markets,” Karasińska said. “We have partners in many popular destinations for boaters, including Florida, the Seychelles the Balearic Islands, as well as other parts of Spain, and Croatia.”

Yacht Concept says it supplies comprehensive solutions for yachts, including CCTV systems, GNSS technology, remote control capabilities, and other types of equipment. The latest product to join Yacht Concep’s growing portfolio, BlackBox, is scheduled to have its premiere this month, according to the firm’s sales director.

“It is completing its final tests, and then we will launch BlackBox and expect to start its official sales in the July-August period,” she said.

BlackBox logs data such as a boat’s speed, depth, GPS position, engine status, as well as other functions that can be sensorised. Yacht Concept says the solution distinguishes itself with its durable construction that relies on an anodised aluminium casing that dissipates heat, marine-grade protection ensured by a waterproof and sealed enclosure, a built-in battery that covers two hours of uninterrupted operation after a blackout, as well as a two-year period of maintenance-free operation and easy installation.

Michał Danił, an automation engineer from Yacht Concept, told IBI that BlackBox allows yacht users to store all the necessary data in the Cloud, is user-friendly, but also offers multiple features compared to other entry-level solutions.

“Our target customer wants to use more than just the standard ‘plug and play’ products that are available in the market; they want a system that will ensure complete control of the boat in all conditions,” he said.

“With the use of BlackBox, you can connect all of the devices installed onboard a yacht, and this integration allows you to stop using all the other screens. BlackBox is adapted to a wide range of networks, including the Ethernet, CAN, NMEA2000 and RS-485 connections,” according to Danił. “We are also very much focused on optimising our products’ energy consumption to ensure their continued operations in various challenging conditions.”

Yacht Concept says BlackBox includes an intuitive web-based app for real-time yacht monitoring. The solution allows users to access its features from an OnBoard app, or mirror the dashboard directly from the chartplotter.

Yacht Concept’s portfolio of products includes lighting, wireless switches, designer socket fittings, and other solutions. One of its flagship products, the OnBoard system, was created with the expertise of engineers from the Polish Space Agency.
