Channel 28 release the new Morse 5

by Alex Hicks01 May 20243 min read

After receiving a specific request from a client, we have recently designed and released the new Morse 5 service call button. With one larger central piezo button surrounded by four smaller piezo buttons - which can all be custom engraved - the new Morse 5 can cater for those who need options!

As a specialist integrator of crew communication systems to the yacht industry, Channel 28 has experience of providing and integrating digital comms to yachts from 40 to 160 metres. These include recent launches such as a 98m Abeking & Rasmussen yacht and a 122m Lurssen yacht.

In late 2016 Channel 28 were requested by a major management company to develop a high-quality service call button for simple integrations onto yachts. These are our Morse 2 buttons which are in yachts, hotels and private residences worldwide. The buttons are intended to offer feedback with haptic buzzer and coloured LED ring in a variety of different finishes.

The new Morse5 buttons released in 2024 are an 100mm diameter button with an 8mm acrylic ring. The centre button is a 35mm diameter piezo switch which operators on a simple push or tap. The outer buttons are 12mm diameter and recessed into the outer shoulder. The whole unit is sealed to IP67.

The Morse5 button uses the yacht’s Wi-Fi to connect to a number of head end (control) servers such as:
• Crestron Control Systems - Module available for Series 3 processors
• Channel 28 cState UHF

The buttons bodies are available as standard in the following finishes:
• Polished or Brushed Stainless
• Brushed or Bead Blasted Anodised Aluminium
• RAL Colour High Gloss Finishes

Further finishes on demand:
• Gold / Silver / Nickel Plating
• PVD Coating

Call Delivery Options
1. iPad / iPhone App
Any number of iPads can run the free Morse app to display and acknowledge calls. Depending on the app settings the iPad can be left open and will ring continuously. Alternately the app can be closed and Apple notifications are used (requires internet connectivity).
Apple iPhone / iPod Touches can also be used to accept and respond to the Morse calls - either dedicated or yacht’s own (also requires an internet connection).
2. Apple Watch / Host iPhones
We have included for two Apple iPhone SE’s which act as hosts for the Apple watches for receiving the calls and responding.

As with all our Morse Service Call Buttons we can tailor the colour and customisation to your specific requirements.
