The lower-cost Teignbridge CPP can show gains in efficiency and fuel saving of 20% plus, over a fixed pitch propeller. This is by correcting the propeller pitch and thrust to suit the vessels changing situation i.e. cargo weight, fuel load, passenger numbers, or weather. The pitch is changed in the same way as an aircraft changes its wing pitch and lift, using moving trailing edge sections. Control can be automatic like an automatic gearbox. The T-CPP will reduce operating costs and emissions.
