Managing a superyacht is work of skilled professionals. Yet, the position of yacht crew is uncertain. The people working on board deal with excessively long hours of work and mental health issues. This needs to change. Yacht crew will speak out during the Crew Voices Forum in November in the RAI.

Inclusivity in leisure boating, the sport of sailing and in  the world of large yachts is increasing. This development is likely to reflect in boats’ designs and ergonomics. But is it? An exploration of boat design for people with mobility challenges and genders other than male, shows some special interest designs and boat types. Access for all is not standard aboard boats.

Local initiatives celebrate boating around the globe 

The 2026 edition of World Boating Day, May 23, will encompass events at yards, sailing schools, boat shows and at supplier companies all around the world. Head of Public Relations Dominique Afacan presents the overview of all participants as co-organiser from the Superyacht Life Foundation and tells about the growing momentum of this global day to celebrate leisure boating.

Rapid transformation is ongoing in the marine industry. Onboard gear and yachts are changing, like the people who buy them as well as the professionals producing, promoting and adapting them for the future. Women are finding their way. With awards, networks, expertise and their female touch, the population is changing for the better thanks to her.

Sixteen recently founded companies present their innovations and new services to the leisure marine industry in the Start-Up Zone at the upcoming Metstrade show, while up to ten fellow start-ups will exhibit at the Superyacht Start-up Space.
