MYP sharpens focus with PIANC RecCom partnership

Wednesday, 7 August 2019

PIANC RecCom, the Recreational Navigation Commission of the World Association of Waterborne Navigation Infrastructure, has partnered with METSTRADE’s Marina & Yard Pavilion (MYP) to mutually enhance its programme at the METSTRADE Show 2019. PIANC RecCom complements the list of leading bodies that contribute to the MYP programme, such as the Global Marina Institute (GMI) and HISWA, the Dutch Boating Industry Association.

The MYP will host a specially designed PIANC’s Marina Design Training Program (MDTP). The course scheduled on 19 & 20 November will focus on design fundamentals for marina owners and operators, including refurbishments and new projects, as well as new trends in marina design.

PIANC RecCom will also convene an open meeting to discuss marina adaptation needs to best service the growth in electric propulsion recreational vessels on Wednesday 20 November. Finally the PIANC Marina Excellence Design Jack Nichol Award will be presented to the 2018-2019 winner during the MYP Waterfront Drinks. The award recognises excellence in the design of modern recreational boating facilities around the world.

Carol Fulford, editorial director, Marina World: "The MYP at METSTRADE is now the internationally recognised annual European meeting place for professionals working in the marina sector. This exciting new partnership with PIANC RecCom reinforces the MYP as a platform for open discussion of important industry issues and significantly boosts networking opportunities. It makes a visit to the MYP even more valuable than ever before."

Versatile programme

During the METSTRADE Show 2019, there are many things to do around the Marina & Yard Pavilion. On Wednesday 20 November, visitors and exhibitors can join the board of the Global Marina Institute (GMI) for sessions, among other things about Marina Career pathways and case studies about marinas as environmental show cases. Later that day, MYP exhibitors, PIANC course delegates, GMI participants, IMG attendees and invited marina professionals will be able to enjoy the MYP Waterfront Drinks. On Thursday 21 November there will be the annual HISWA Marina Symposium, organised by the Dutch Boating Industry Association It will be the eighth edition of this popular symposium within the MYP.

Marina and Yard Pavilion remains strong

This year’s Marina & Yard Pavilion (MYP) at METSTRADE features over 65 exhibitors from 17 countries. The 2019 MYP pavilion will have eight first-time attendees, amongst which ThruFlow (USA), Gigieffe (Italy) and Versadock (UK). For Chris Davison, Versadock’s sales manager, being a part of the MYP seems to be an logical step: “We are looking for overseas companies with relevant reach and expertise in their home market to show the same commitment to quality and customer service to join our expanding network of dealers. METSTRADE was the obvious starting point and no other show gives us the same access to Europe’s marine industry.”
