Barton Marine are pleased to add the new HB1 Continuous Line Furler to their expansive range of deck equipment for 2025.  Designed to provide optimum performance for dinghies and small yachts in even the most challenging conditions, the robust, lightweight and stylish Furler introduces innovative hybrid-bearing technology for the first time and will be available to view on stand 220 at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show.

The durable central shaft is manufactured from high grade 316 stainless steel and the sleek main chassis and fork from anodised 6061 aluminium, providing superior strength and durability.  The combination of solid-state and Torlon ball bearings mean the furling wheel remains perfectly balanced and spins freely, even under the highest loads for maximum performance.

Weighing just 175g, the feather weight Furler has an impressive safe working load of 600kg (1320oz) allowing sailors to push to the limits knowing it will not let them down.  Suitable for 4mm (3/16”) to 6mm (1/4”) Furling line with toolless rope insertion making for easy installation with no parts lost on deck.  The continuous line makes for easy operation and excellent rope grip.

Barton Marine continues to expand its distribution network through the appointment of Amarcord Marine Ltd in Hungary.  Amarcord Marine is the sister company of Galco Yachting Ropes, a well-established family-owned manufacturer with six generations expertise in creating quality ropes for general use and two generations specifically for sailors.  The Barton range of marine equipment complements the wider Amarcord Marine offering to provide a one stop shop for the Hungarian boating marketplace and territories. 

Sailing in Hungary is a vibrant and growing sport, centred primarily around Lake Balaton, the largest lake in Central Europe measuring nearly 600 square kilometres and stretching nearly 80 kilometres along Hungary’s southern foothills. The lake hosts numerous regattas, including the Kékszalag (Blue Ribbon Regatta), which is Europe’s oldest round-the-lake sailing race.  The Hungarian government is an active supporter of the industry with the development of youth programs and training schemes which has seen an increased international presence on the racing scene and several Olympic sailors competing on the world stage.

The worldwide marine industry is called upon to help raise funds for Room to Read, a global nonprofit organisation dedicated to promoting equality for girls and eradicating illiteracy through its Girls’ Education Program. The Global Women’s Walk is designed as “an everywhere, everyone, in every way 5 km walk” to support the charity and celebrate women making a valiant difference in the marine industry.  

Barton Marine is a long-term partner of Women In Marine events and a true believer that women can and should achieve great heights across all roles in the marine industry. Suzanne Blaustone, Barton Marine CEO is helping to organise the event, and the Barton Team will be getting involved to walk and raise money for a great cause. “Barton will participate by dividing our Barton Walk up during lunch hours over a week in late April. It will be great to take a break from the office, get some fresh air and a bit of exercise while supporting Room to Read!”    

The Global Women’s Walk 2025 is a worldwide initiative to celebrate, support, and uplift women across the marine industry on the International Day for Women in Maritime 2025, observed on the 18th May. The day aims to recognise women working in the Marine Industry, addressing the current gender imbalance by encouraging female recruitment, retention and promotion to senior levels.  The Global Women’s Walk supports the IMO’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of gender equality.
 
Getting involved is easy with participants able to walk 5 km / 3.2 miles anywhere, with anyone and at any time before and up to the week of 11-18 May, 2025.  Through donations to Room to Read, those involved will be helping to empower women through education, giving them the opportunity to create brighter, independent futures in the marine industry and far beyond.

2025 Genoa Cars

Barton Marine’s headline product launch at METSTRADE 2024 was a totally re-styled and engineered range of Genoa Cars.  This new launch for 2025 sees several years of research and development come together in a range of products that provide exceptional durability, functionality and sleek contemporary style for sailors and OEMs worldwide.

Crafted in strong light-weight aluminium for both pin or towable versions, the new Genoa Cars are anodised in a choice of contemporary Black and Spectro silver colours, suiting multiple uses and tastes. 25mm and 32mm GT options are available to fit existing track layouts.  An exceptional heavy duty (HD) 32mm option is available for larger craft and higher load capabilities.  A key point for riggers and boat owners is that inserts are available to ensure the new Barton cars are compatible with any track used on yachts globally , so removing and installing new track on existing boats is unnecessary.      

The new range raises the bar for performance and durability with high grade aluminium anodised for superior protection in the marine environment, combined with corrosion resistant nylon inserts for long term, low friction and smooth running.  The pin down versions feature simple-to-grip plungers which are easy to operate in sailing gloves or with wet fingers while maintaining the sleek streamline design that resists line snags or catches.  

The 25mm cars are ideal for yachts ranging from 7-10m (23-33ft) with a maximum break load of 2280kg (5016lbs) and for use with line diameters of up to 16mm (5/8”), whilst weighing just 247g (8.7oz) and 297g (10.5oz).  The towable track end with becket takes lines up to 8mm (5/16”) and weighs a mere 121g (4.3oz).

The 32mm cars suit yachts from 9-15m (30-49ft) with a maximum break load of 3280kg (7216lbs) for the GT versions and 5970kg (13134lbs) for the HD versions.  They also take lines up to 16mm (5/16”) and have the capability of taking 2 lines simultaneously allowing for a multitude of rigging needs.  They weigh between 561g (19.8oz) and 820g (28.9oz).
