Fiberglass is strong, lightweight and relatively inexpensive. Over the last few decades, the production and use of Fiber-Reinforced Polymers (FRP), have continuously increased in all industrial sectors but mainly in the marine sector. The increase in production and consumption has obviously led to an exponential increase in growth of FRP waste, both as end-of-life products (End of Life, EoL) and as manufacturing waste. For more than 70 years we have been producing boats made of fiberglass. Production from 1970s to 1980s are are reaching their ends of days. The International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) has estimated that there are more than 6 million recreational craft in Europe alone.
